Our Heritage
. . .
began in 1958 when Bob Higginbotham and Ann McVicker, a married
couple who had successful careers in Manhattan's public relations
and advertising world, decided to venture into an industry
that was literally just being born - mass direct mail.
They
converted one of their twin brownstones on Atlantic Avenue
into a storefront, invested in the most advanced list management
and mailing equipment of the day, then set about establishing
the standards that continue at McV&H nearly five decades later:
serving top-tier arts, health and educational organizations
with all the services available at a large mail house, but
delivered - always - with a small shop's quality, dependability
and personalized customer service.
When their son Robert took over the business in the late 70s,
he followed in their tradition, continuing to provide the
personalized service that is McV&H's hallmark and to invest
in the latest technology, including a line of high-speed-impact
ink-jet printers - the printers were the size of a New York
City phone booth!
In 1992, Tim Kennon purchased the business from Robert and
his Dad and expanded it 10-fold - all the while ensuring that
McV&H's attention to customer satisfaction never wavered.
In 1998, Tim moved the business to Jay Street and this year,
he expanded to 16,000 square feet. Today, Tim has added in-house
and offset digital printing, along with cutting-edge addressing
machines, inserters, and laser printers, to keep the promise
of this fabulous heritage: the best family-owned lettershop
services business in the New York metropolitan area.
